The elevation of the Host (and later, of the Chalice) is not accidental. It is not merely a practical gesture so the congregation can “see what is happening.” It is deeply theological, profoundly historical, and intensely personal. The priest lifts the consecrated Host so that the faithful may behold Christ Himself—truly present: Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. This is not symbolic. This is not a reminder. This is not a representation. This is Him.
