On July 25. the feast of St. James the Greater

Dear Bishops, Laity, and All Friends of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary,

I am personally writing to you as I need your help.

You see, Heaven has given the Church work to do, and it can’t just be done by the priests and the consecrated religious. It’s not something just for one religious community, or just one part of the Church.

No: It’s a job for every Catholic.

We’ve been given work to do by Heaven at Fatima and through the writings of St. Faustina Kowalska, the Secretary and Apostle of Divine Mercy. We’ve been called, among other things, to pray the Rosary for peace in the world, consecrate ourselves to Mary Immaculate, and practice devotion to Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament.

One of the best ways to fulfill all of these requests from Heaven is a Diocesan Rosary Congress (DRC). A Rosary congress is the continual praying of the Rosary in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament for seven days and nights in a particular parish or diocese, wrapping our country, our states, our cities, our dioceses, and our families within the protective Heart of Mary.

It is my honor and my great pleasure to be a member of the board for the DRC, and to write to you on behalf of the organization. For those of you who have served this worthy cause before, thank you! For those of you who are new to Diocesan Rosary Congresses, we want to welcome you to one of the greatest acts of prayer and spiritual combat the Church possesses.

How often do we complain about the loss of faith in the world today, especially loss of faith in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist? How often do we struggle to find volunteers to help out with our Catholic ministries and apostolates? How often are resources lacking, or good deeds left undone? Let’s do something useful in response. Let’s take all these needs and bring them to Jesus and Mary in a Diocesan Rosary Congress!

As St. Don Bosco saw in a dream long ago, the Church will not be secure in the great storms we face today unless she is firmly attached to the two pillars of the Eucharistic Lord and Our Lady, Help of Christians. We can’t do anything right unless we put Jesus first and foremost. If we let Him work freely in our hearts, our homes, our parishes, and our dioceses, then all things are possible — and the way we do that is through sustained prayer, as in a DRC.

With sustained prayer, the New Evangelization is on the march; the Culture of Life will replace the Culture of Death; the Church’s magisterial teachings will offer us a blueprint of the Civilization of Love. But we can’t do anything without the power of prayer.

The bishops have summoned us all to a three-year Eucharistic Revival. Let’s give the revival a real boost with our prayers and adoration through a DRC in your diocese!

I’m helping out. Will you?

May Jesus, the Divine Mercy, bless you, and Mary Immaculate wrap her mantle about you.

Thank you and God bless,

Fr. Chris Alar
