Light in the Darkness

EricRosary Congress

From Carol Scherer

People in the Diocese of Pittsburgh who had the privilege of participating in the 2019 Rosary Congress were so grateful for the opportunity! After holding traveling congresses the last two years, we were able to pray all week at one location — St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. This church holds special significance. Ten years prior to the first Rosary Congress in Poland in May, 1979 (for his first visit to his homeland as Pope John Paul II), then Cardinal Karol Wojtyła visited and prayed at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on September 20, 1969. Many people who signed up for the 2019 Rosary Congress had never been to St. Stanislaus and didn’t know of its historical significance. Since it’s situated at the  the heart of the City’s Strip District and appears to “welcome” drivers by its location at Smallman and 21st Streets, more than one person arriving in the nighttime hours said the monstrance on the candlelit altar appeared as a “Light in the Darkness” as they drew closer to the church. Many commented on the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit as they prayed and kept Our Eucharistic Lord company during their hour(s). Some people said that participating in the Rosary Congress has really helped them pray the rosary more prayerfully. Following are some of the unsolicited comments received in emails:

“Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to pray in front of Our Lord this morning!”

“I definitely felt the Holy Spirit in the church with us!”

“It was wonderful.”

“That was a beautiful experience in such an inspiring place today for the Rosary Congress.”

We are truly blessed!
